Green Hornet Moves To July, Jennifers Body Gets
Rated Bloody R

Columbia Pictures has moved Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet back two weeks from June 25th 2010 to July 9th 2010. According to ERC, the move was made to make room for the studio's Dennis Dugan-directed comedy Grown Ups, which was moved from March 12th to June 25th. But with The Twilight Saga's Eclipse scheduled to hit theaters on June 30th, I'm surprised that Columbia would want either of their films near the tween vampire romance sequel. And since it was revealed that Megan Fox would appear naked in the filmed topless scene in the Diablo Cody-scripted horror film Jennifer's Body, fans have been speculating that 20th Century Fox was aiming for a PG-13 rating. I read the initial draft of the screenplay, and I'm not sure that story could be told in PG-13. But fear not, the MPAA has finally spoken. The film is officially rated R for "sexuality, bloody violence, ...

Closing Credits: Karl Malden

Karl Malden, aged ninety seven has died in his sleep, at home on Wednesday night. Although he doesn't have a rolling list of credits to his name, his face and distinctive voice will make you remember him immediately, and if you were ever a fan of the television show The Streets of San Francisco, then you'll definitely remember him. However there's much more to him than leading that television series for some one hundred and twenty episodes from 1972 to 1977....Visit Filmstalker for the full story. Film Day 11 - Bruise On, Bruise Off

Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2009
Location: Interiors -- Prison
Film: Under Jakob's Ladder

Ah... Tuesday. We're back on set for Week 3 of filming.

Today is one of the days we had bring in our make-up artist: Jennifer Theeparajah. (We actually already had her come in on Saturday.) Her job on set? Make sure we had our bruises for Yasha (played by Quentin McCuiston)...

Here's the thing: We needed the bruise to age, to get progressively lighter as time went by. But, the problem was, we weren't really shooting the scenes in order! Which meant we had to be specific as to what type of bruise the scene called for. So, we needed labels for each bruise.

For example: We'd tell Jennifer that we needed a "Day-3 Bruise" for one scene (i.e. a lighter bruise). And a half-hour later, we'd need her to either take the bruise off completely, or switch it to a "Day-1 Bruise" (i.e. a darker bruise).

Fortunately, changing the bruise was a pretty quick process; and so we never had to wait very long until we got the bruise we needed for the scene.

Soup is good food

According to Mark Evanier, there is an old Internet custom whereupon an individual who?s ?too busy to post on the weblog or answer most e-mail? indicates this status by putting up a picture of Campbell?s Cream of Mushroom soup. Since I personally loathe cream of mushroom, I have decided to substitute a photo of Campbell?s Chicken & Stars?a bisque that?s a bit more to my liking. I?m not busy in the one-armed paperhanger sense, but the fields of TDOY are likely to be fallow over the next few days, and I figured a heads-up would be in order.

My sister Debbie, her husband Craige and my niece Rachel will be flying in this evening from Des Moines to spend the holiday weekend with us, which is why I?ll be away from the computer for a bit. I?ve programmed some of the regular TDOY comic strip features (Life Lessons, When worlds collide) to run during my absence, and if I get a spare moment I may drop in with some color commentary about their visit. So until that time, enjoy the peace and quiet and if you?re not too busy, check out the fine sites in the ?Recommended Blogs? for all of your classic movie, pop culture and political needs.

Resident Evil 4 the final chapter confirmed

We already heard that plans were afoot for a fourth (or fifth if you count the CGI film Resident Evil: Degeneration) and where the film will take place, that special effects teams have been hired and the script is being written, but nothing concrete. Today more rumours are out suggesting that the film might be hitting cinemas at the end of next year, and that the fourth, or fifth, film in the series has a title, Resident Evil: Afterlife....Visit Filmstalker for the full story. Predators gains director

Predators has its director, and it's one of the names that's already been banded around, Nimród Antal. You might be thinking who's he? Well let me say Control (Filmstalker review), Vacancy (Filmstalker review) and Armored. Okay you may not have seen Armored as yet, but I can tell you I was rather taken with Vacancy, despite the film getting a chilly reception....Visit Filmstalker for the full story.
