Final Sherlock Holmes Trailer: Exciting,
Isn’t It

There’s no doubt that Warner Bros. wants this version of Sherlock Holmes, of which the vision is derived from the wild mind of Guy Ritchie, to be the exciting, exhilarating version of Sherlock Holmes. This runs in contrary to what many Holmes fans would suggest is the true nature of the character created by Arthur Conan Doyle. Holmes has always been a thinker, a scientist and a clever detective. But Ritchie’s version seems to take on Holmes’ wild side — the boxer, the philanderer, the smart-ass. Fair enough, I suppose. It should make for a shiny, glossy Hollywood actioner fit for a holiday weekend release.

With that in mind, check out the new trailer for the film below, which comes courtesy of MTV. In it, we are given more of the film’s plot — including the looming presence of Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), the film’s mysterious villain. As well, we see more action!

Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong. It is in theaters December 25, 2009.

I'm rather surprised, and I'm not sure if it's because I now expect this from Johnny Depp and his career is going this way, or because he's decided to take on this role even though he's Johnny Depp. I think it really depends on how the film turns out and which way the film plays it. There's no Lone Ranger chosen as yet, but Jerry Bruckheimer has his Tonto, and when he tells us the comparisons to Pirates of the Caribbean, I think we know exactly where the film is headed....Visit Filmstalker for the full story. Scream 4 Teaser Poster Comes Complete with
Generic Plot

Santa Monica, California is hosting the American Film Market this week, where buyers and industry folk will screen films, view marketing materials and exchange business cards, ultimately making decisions on what is or is not coming to your local cineplex in the next year. What this means to us (and more importantly, you) is that we get all kinds of fun new marketing materials and plot descriptions to oogle.

Up first, the folks at ShockTillYouDrop spotted a new poster and synopsis for Scream 4, a sequel we didn’t know we were supposed to be excited about. Courtney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette are returning, with no word yet on director Wes Craven’s involvement. We do however, know that writer Kevin Williamson is creating a new kind of thriller, or something.

“The horror series that reignited the genre and gross more than $500 million worldwide is back! From Kevin Williamson, creator of the original Scream trilogy, the new film sees the return of cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, along with a group of new stars, who can all hopefully stay alive long enough to figure out the new rules to this one-of-a-kind horror franchise!”

Also notable, the folks at MTV caught up with Williamson, who touted the fourth entry into the Scream series as an ensemble with a modern twist:

“The fourth one is an ensemble. It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We’ll have our three main characters, and we’ll be introducing several more. We’ll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That’ll take us through the next three.”

A new decade. A new set of rules. At least, that’s what I’m gleaning from the poster below. Click to see it bigger over at STYD.
